The new gross margins tax is a disaster for small business in Texas and for the state's economy. We urge you to work for the repeal the tax when the Legislature next meets. The tax cannot be reformed without being made more complicated, and it cannot be fixed because it is based on faulty economic premise.

By controlling the growth of government and devoting surplus revenues to property tax reduction, the business tax is simply not needed and is a drag on job creation. With our economic competitors worldwide cutting business taxes, and the U.S. economy slowing, it is even more important that
immediate action be taken.
