A Christmas Reflection

by | Dec 25, 2025 | 0 comments

As Christmas Day arrives, all of us at Texans for Fiscal Responsibility pause to reflect on the profound meaning of this season. In a world often consumed by the hustle of shopping, parties, and travels, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters. Christmas is not about politics or policy debates—though those are part of our daily work. At its heart, it is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, who entered the world in profound humility through the Incarnation, bridging the divine and the human in a way that forever changed history.

The prophet Isaiah foretold this miracle centuries earlier: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given” (Isaiah 9:6). This simple yet transformative truth lies at the core of everything we stand for at Texans for Fiscal Responsibility. It reminds us that every human life possesses inherent value, bestowed by our Creator. Life and liberty is not a privilege granted by governments, but a divine gift. And no authority—whether in Austin or beyond—has the right to undermine the foundational pillars of faith, family, and personal responsibility.

These principles are more than abstract ideals; they guide our mission to advocate for limited government, lower taxes, and accountable leadership.

In 2025, with the support of dedicated Texans like you, we continued to shine a light on government actions and empower citizens to demand better. This year saw the release of our biennial Fiscal Responsibility Index, which evaluated lawmakers on key votes related to the budget, taxpayer-funded lobbying, government regulations, and protections for families and children. Thanks to a strong class of conservative freshmen and committed champions, average scores rose compared to recent sessions, highlighting progress in the fight against wasteful spending and overreach.

Your steadfast partnership made a real difference. Because of friends like you, we stood in the gap, calling out excess, opposing higher taxes, and holding elected officials accountable to the people they serve. You refused to let Texas drift toward bigger government and forgotten priorities, ensuring that our state remains a beacon of opportunity rooted in timeless values.

As we gather with loved ones this Christmas, our work persists, fueled by the hope that the season embodies. The Incarnation is a reminder that light breaks through darkness, and ordinary people—like the shepherds who first heard the angels’ announcement—can play extraordinary roles in defending truth.

From all of us at Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, thank you. Thank you for your unwavering support, your prayers, and your commitment to a freer, more prosperous Texas.

May your home overflow with peace, your celebrations brim with joy, and your heart remain firmly anchored in the eternal hope brought by the birth of Christ. Merry Christmas!
