Texas House of Representatives
Subject: HR 3 – Housekeeping Resolution
- Author: State Rep. Charlie Geren (R-Fort Worth)
- TFR Position: Oppose
- Background: Violates principles of limited government and fiscal responsibility. Allows the Speaker unilateral authority to appoint an attorney to represent the House body as a whole. Increases compensation for Legislative staff at the expense of taxpayers, while taxpayers struggle to pay for increased tax burdens and inflation.
Subject: HR 3 – Housekeeping Resolution – Specific Amendments
- Author: State Rep. Charlie Geren (R-Fort Worth)
- TFR Position: Oppose Specific amendments
- Background: Amendments that seek to increase staff salaries/office budgets further, or otherwise violate the principles of limited government and fiscal responsibility.
- TFR Position: Support Specific Amendments
- Background: Amendments that seek to reduce office budgets, remove the authority of the speaker to unilaterally appoint an attorney, or otherwise support fiscal responsibility and limited government.
