Subject: Prohibition on Government COVID-19 Mandates, Senate Bill 29 (SB 29)

- Background: SB 29 amends current law to prohibit a governmental entity to mandate a face-covering, the closure of a private business or school, or a person to be vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine. Though TFR supports SB 29 as written, TFR strongly suggests it be amended to include a prohibition on the mandate of any vaccine.
Subject: Prohibition Expansion on Contract Discrimination, Senate Bill 936 (SB 936)

- TFR Position: Support
- Background: SB 936 expands the prohibition on discriminating based on labor agreements for public contract work to include local government money, governmentally administered financial assistance, money from ratepayers, or money from user fees. Taxpayer money should be carefully allocated as efficiently and effectively as possible, regardless of group affiliation. For these reasons, TFR supports SB 936.
Subject: Prohibition on Charter Schools Using Taxpayer Money on Abortion Providers, Senate Bill 959 (SB 959)
- Author: State Sen. Donna Campbell (R-New Braunfels)
- TFR Position: Support
- Background: SB 959 seeks to add open-enrollment charter schools, which receive taxpayer money, to the definition of a governmental entity, thereby prohibiting these schools from using taxpayer resources on abortion providers and their affiliates. For these reasons, TFR supports SB 959.
