As we gather with loved ones this Thanksgiving and dig into the turkey and dressing, we at Texans for Fiscal Responsibility want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to you—our supporters, advocates, and friends. Your unwavering dedication to promoting responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars and safeguarding Texas families from burdensome fiscal policies has made 2024 an extraordinary year of success.
This year has been a testament to the power of grassroots advocacy and the strength of shared principles. Together, we’ve achieved meaningful victories for fiscal responsibility and reform at nearly every level of government.
Earlier this year in the primary elections, and then solidified in November, we witnessed the election of nearly two-dozen reform-minded, conservative champions to the Texas House.
Of course, just a few weeks ago, America soundly rejected the status quo of big-government, reelecting Donald J. Trump, and sending him and his team of revolutionary reformers back to Washington.
2024 saw the defeat of several costly local bond proposals. Across Texas, communities spoke out against irresponsible spending and rejected plans that would have burdened taxpayers with unnecessary debt. Thanks to your tireless efforts in educating your neighbors and turning out to vote, Texans are better positioned to thrive without the looming shadow of excessive financial obligations.
In 2024, the movement for meaningful property tax reform gained unprecedented momentum, with more lawmakers than ever, both incumbent and incoming, who are vocally supporting ending perpetual rent to the government. These strides are a direct result of your persistent calls, emails, and attendance at hearings, ensuring that legislators heard the collective demand for change.
We’re also celebrating the growing strength of our educational initiatives this year. TFR’s workshops, webinars, and publications reached thousands of Texans, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to hold their elected officials accountable and advocate for pro-taxpayer and pro-family reforms. This groundswell of informed, engaged citizens has fortified our efforts and fueled the momentum for a fiscally responsible Texas.
Of course, none of these successes would have been possible without the unwavering commitment of individuals like you. Your generous contributions of time, resources, and passion have been the backbone of every initiative and every victory. You inspire us daily to continue fighting for a Texas that values fiscal responsibility, limited government, and individual liberty.
On this Thanksgiving Day, we give thanks for the many blessings of this year and for the incredible community of supporters who make our work possible. Together, we are shaping a brighter, more prosperous future for all Texans.
And now, as we gather together at our tables with family and friends for a day of feasting, I will leave you with this prayer, to pray with and reflect upon:
“Most gracious God, by whose knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew: We yield thee unfeigned thanks and praise for the return of seed-time and harvest, for the increase of the ground and the gathering in of the fruits thereof, and for all the other blessings of thy merciful providence bestowed upon this nation and people.
And, we beseech thee, give us a just sense of these great mercies; such as may appear in our lives by an humble, holy, and obedient walking before thee all our days; who livest and reignest, world without end. Amen.”
From all of us at Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. May your day be filled with joy, gratitude, and the warmth of those you hold dear.
